BATMAN/ MICHAEL KEATON:
Batman was create
when Bruce was only six. Bruce Wayne decided that no one should ever have to undergo the loss of those they love to crime.
He then became the caped crusader...
Born Michael Douglas, Michael Keaton was featured in many movies but
really didn't make the front page until he was cast as the caped crusader in the Tim Burtons remake of Batman in 1989. No
one thought he could play the part seriously, but critics were proved wrong when the film became the number one film of
1989. It was the movie of the decade. Michael was now a certified star, forever known as Batman he wen on to make, the
greatest Batman of them all, Batman Returns. Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/BatMan: Perfect. Keaton returned for this
sequel better than ever. His performance as both Bruce Wayne and BatMan was stronger than the last batfilm
CATWOMAN/ MICHELLE PFEIFFER:
"She moves in grace through mystery. A cat-burglar slipping and
gliding through the night, her body cutting the darkness in whispers. A thief who takes more than the glitter of diamonds
and pearls. A woman, a shadow, who can steala man's eye and his imagination, maybe even his heart...if it's dark enough.
Batman Returns offered Michelle Pfeiffer the chance to play one of
her childhood TV heroines; the Catwoman. It was purely by chance that Michelle got the part that is her ultimate blockbuster
role. She was not even first choice. Annette Bening was, but when she fell pregnant to Warren Beatty, director Tim Burton
and Michael Keaton came up with the obvious solution... Pfeiffer! Once receiving the news she immediately set out on a gruelling physical workout routine to
get herself into the slinky shape that would well accent her as Catwoman in her skin-tight, black PVC costume.
THE PENGUIN/ DANNY DEVITO:
The Penguin is considered a criminal mastermind in Gotham City. He
plans crimes, but usually doesn't commit them himself - this makes it difficult for Batman to prove that the Penguin planned
the crimes. Oswald had a miserable childhood, and due to his mother's fanaticism, he always carries an umbrella - ones that
shoot bullets, spray acid, and do all kinds of nasty things. Most of The Penguin's crimes are bird-related or play on
bird-like themes.
Only Danny DeVito could play the Penguin as a vile villain and still
make him sensitive - in a sick kind of way. DeVito's nasty version of the weird bird-man is a chirpy, more boorish portrayal
than Burgess Meredith's cartoonish gent in the TV series. And the Penguin's more definitive past as a deformed and dejected
child - that's Pee-wee Herman as The Penguin's disgusted dad who rejects him - added to the enticement of playing the more
rounded part. If they were going to do the Penguin like the comic book or the TV show, I wasn't interested," DeVito says.
"But when Tim and I first talked, I knew within the hour I wanted to do it."
CHRISTOPHER WALKEN/ MAX SHREK:
After the Joker destoyed half of Gotham, Max Shrek steped
in and helpped rebuild the city. But Max has other plans, personal plans for Gotham. In order to get his new power
plant built, Max calls upon The Penguin, but het get more than he bargined for, and in the end, pyed for it.
Christopher Walken as Max Shrek: This was a character who was
suposed to be pure evil, who only cared about his own and his son`s well being. Walken performed that role perfectly.
It`s Christopher Walken. What more would you expect?
